Tips from Cat Fancy and Other Things.

I wouldn't say that your house could stay uncluttered if
you use these tips.

l. Take and old sock, stuff another one inside, sprinkle
cat nip and tie a knot for a sock toy that Kitty will love.

2. Put bowls of water everywhere to encourage Kitty to drink,

3. Rub Kitty around the face as his peer group does in
grooming.

4. Leave the cat carrier out so he can scent mark it,(hopefully with his face and whiskers) and can explore
and investigate it.

5. We all know this one...let him have boxes and paper
bags for playing.

I have a non cat one too. Leave a bar of unwrapped soap
in the closet with woolen items. I was hesitant to try it
but left it with my good wool coats and it worked. I used
Yardley's English lavender because I love the smell.

It is gloriously sunny, though not warm, outside and the
snow has melted a lot. I can get to the library to stock
up on books and movies before the next one due Wed.

I am so pleased. I got biege drapes at the TAFB thrift
shop which is only open for Christmas. They have French
longhand in black written on them. The cornice board that
Ted made was a little short but I was able to find plain
sheers in a slightly lighter color and a scarf to conceal
hot short the cornice board is. It is very pretty against
the pastel blue walls...maybe we will exercise more if we
have something pretty to look at. I have custom drapes
in the rest of the house that came with it. Our north wall
in the family room is uncurtained but I am thinking of
putting up sheers. There is no need for privacy because
it opens onto a private school yard.

I did not know you had a cat! I have sheers throughout the house. In my bedroom, I covered the window glass with an opaque film that I got from home depot. That way I have some privacy and the light still gets in.

I don't have one now since Adrienne is allergic to cats and my long time
l7 year old siamese died. I miss having one a lot.

I just can't beieve Oklahoma and Texas are getting hit with two major storms in two weeks. You guys will get it worse than us. Stay warm and stay safe.

Our storm is coming in early and will be here today. I have books and
movies from the library so I am fine but worry about everyone else. They
are saying another foot of snow.

Those sheers sound nice. I try to make whatever curtains I need for the windows in Colorado since my mother left an entire small house half full of drapery fabric. She left a lovely blue sheer with the pins already in ready to machine hem. I felt like she was there with me when I finished them up and put them in one of the bathrooms. Except she would have found something wrong with the way I did it, but I ignored her. It was fine. Just fine. Nothing wrong at all.

Your mother's skill with sewing astounds me as well as her papering and
painting expertise. You are so good at all the domestic arts too. She
taught you well. Never mind her ghostly criticisms.

My mum used to make little cloth pillows and fill them with lavender, tie them and hang them in the wardrobes and drawers - you brought back some long forgotten memories

I do so love the smell of lavender. Maybe I can persuade some to grow this
year. I don't have good luck with it.

I admire your industry. Things that need doing around here have mounted up. I am not handy with drapes. Ed and I need to these things together and he's tied himself up with volunteer work and now he's sick. When I think of the work it took to pull the house together when we moved in, I am stunned, thinking, how the Hell did I do it?
comment by tealstar on Feb 7, 2011 2:22 PM ()
I am so sorry that Ed is still sick. Perhaps he tries to do to much
volunteer work. Men seem to have problems with what to do with their time.
Houses are a lot of work. I finally got the windows washed and it was a
chore. I used the swiffer mop method that you blogged about. Thanks.

I am glad it's at least sunny! And enjoy your time out and about while you can.

I miss the sun. That is the great thing about the Southwest. We have
a lot of sunny days.
