Thumbs Down Supreme Court

Dramus said it all but I confess I could hardly believe the
Supreme Court decision. I expected better of them.

We do not deserve to have rights taken away from us b ecause
a billion dollar corporation fancies itself a person.
The Green's live in Mustang, Ok and have already forced a
class on creationism in the schools there. Money can buy
you anything evidently. I hope this misinformation is not
allowed in the classroom but who knows who they have bought.

Isn't it incredible? It's the Dark Ages!

A return to magical thinking.

I've been disillusioned with the court since the Gore-Bush decision. I hope Obama can get some more justices added who are moderate/centrist before he goes. I wrote a piece that I sent to the paper but I don't know if they'll use. They did ask me, however, for a piece on Clawson, who just won the interim seat vacated by Trey Radel. I don't know if I got it sent back in time to meet their deadline, but I do like that I am now and then getting an assignment. That's a kick.

I am glad for your assignments too. I wish someone would vacate their
seat on the Supreme Court so we could get a liberal Justice while Obama
is president. We need one in the worst way.

Really can't have confidence in 5/4 decisions.

It was close, but no cigar.

I believe reading the First Amendment correctly does not only guarantee 'freedom of religion,' but it also assures 'freedom FROM religion.'
comment by jondude on June 30, 2014 2:53 PM ()
I believe that also. You would not believe the societal pressure here to be
a God fearing Republican. If I have one more clerk tell me to have a
blessed day, I am going to throw up.

I am horrified at this decision and wonder how many corporations will suddenly "find God".
comment by dragonflyby on June 30, 2014 1:28 PM ()
Probably a lot. I thought for sure they would lose.

Terrible terrible news indeed....

I think so. We might as well be living in a theocracy. I am one old woman
with liberal views and I am ashamed of my state for many reasons. One, the
treatment of immigrant children, two, the total control of the Republican
party with the lack of compassion for those who need help.

The Supreme Court is very "conservative," although that term is quite misused. In this case, the reproductive choices are still going to have to be private. We'll try it again in ten years.
comment by jondude on June 30, 2014 10:35 AM ()
I am quite sure I won't be here in ten years but I will be rooting for it
from my little jar on the mantle.
