Take the Time

I had been thinking of visiting a friend since we have moved
to Oklahoma City. She lives just six blocks from me but I
was busy with other things and thought I will get around to
it sometime soon.

Yesterday I learned that she had died of a terribly painful
cancer about a year ago. She was a dear person and she left
a handicapped husband behind. She was the kind of person
that I would like to be. A great hostess and cook, a wonderful housekeeper and she never had a hair out of place.
She worked for Estee Lauder, first as a perfume model and
later she was a manager for Estee Lauder products in one of
our malls.

She was always the one who took care of others. She took
care of her mother in law until she died. Then she took
care of her mother and her husband.

I feel terrible that I didn't just drop in and say hello,
I am here now and I will do anything I can to help. Time
just marches on and we don't get many second chances.

Yes Fredo, I won't waste time in seeing him. He is the same age we are.

It may be the best time to pay your respects, as it won't be so painful to him

I think we will.

Yes, that is an important step.

So sorry about your friend. When our lives are rich with friends and family, we do not always have the time to visit with other friends whom we care about unless they too make it a priority.

So true. It was a relief to Barbara to go since she was in horrible pain.

So sad you missed the chance to see her. If her husband is around, you might visit him and give him the comfort of knowing you cared. That is a gift you can give her.

I will do that.

We are all guilty of living to fast and not slowing down to enjoy life and our friends. Like Scarlett O'Hara, I feel like "Tomorrow is another day" and I always plan on doing it later. I am sorry about the loss of your friend.

I hate missing the important things while attending to the trivial.

I'm so sorry. Isn't that the worst feeling to have gone through all that time thinking of that friend as being alive and finding out she was gone? When it's too late we look back and wonder what it was that made us put off the visit.

I think it was what hit Ted and I so hard. To find that she had been
gone so long.

Time does indeed fly when you are living life.

You get focused on the day to day stuff and let the important stuff go.

I am sorry to hear that...
