Seasonal Musings

I do my Christmas shopping all year long so I haven't been
in the stores much. I ventured out to Hobby Lobby and the
Dollar Tree and was taken aback by the crowds in both places.
It was a retail frenzy in them and the crowds were so dense
and the lines so long that we were glad to finish our chores
and go have a peaceful lunch. There weren't even Christmas
Carols to put you in the spirit.

I got a wonderful Christmas box from Fredo and Mike with
a lot of imported Italian goodies and some Greek Figs. I
love figs and the Southern Fig Preserves is a delight. I
will have these with real whipped cream.

I am looking forward to lunch with the women in my Antiques
group today. We have a room reserved at a local restaurant.
We always have a good time.

I am still contemplating a New Year's Open House.

My mother in law and I recently went to Hobby Lobby. I was happy they said Merry Christmas to us as we were leaving. Haven't heard that in some time!

The two major gifts I got for Donna were both purchased online. I've been in Walmart, but mostly for food (except meat). Not too crowded early in the morning. Hope you had a good time at lunch!

I wanted to see the Disney Christmas shop. But it was clear on the other side and I had not yet resolved my shoe problems. It is probably just as well.

We will have to do some shopping for my cousin when we get home but most of what she wants is clothes she will need to shop for herself so we will give her some cash. What she really needs is someone to take her shopping to use the gift cards her family sends her but she tends to expect us to pay for everything so she can save the card for some other time.

Bummer!! The Christmas shop would have been so pretty.

I am supposed to be watching my diet, but now I'm envisioning different stuff with whipped cream. I don't really know how figs taste.

Figs are just wonderful and I have always longed for a fig tree. They are
sweet and a great contrast with lightly sugared whipped cream.

Hi Ms. Jeri, Ed and I don't shop in the stores (except for BJ's) where crowds mass. Saks during the Christmas season, is very lacking in customers. I decided against a boat party (it would have been tomorrow) and instead will invite a few people for brunch during Christmas week. Ed is not in the spirit -- hate to plan these things alone.

I have had a lot of fun yesterday and today with girl friends which happens
all too seldom. I am really in the spirit this year but too lazy to
entertain.
