A Scary Place. This World of Ours.

All of a sudden we are all living with a threat from Mother
Nature. Tropical Storms in Florida, Fire in Colorado and
Wyoming and killing heat every place else.

I keep an evacuation packet all the time so we can grab and
go if a tornado threatens. I have credit cards, vital records, passports and canned food ready to go in case of a
tornado. I even keep pet food for Rex. I also have copies of
insurance documents. It may not do me any good but it makes
me feel more secure.

The worst thing about a disaster is that there is scum who
want to profit by it by looting. Rape and pillage belong
back in the middle ages but it happens.

Be Sure and Vote tomorrow.

By the way, we watched a tremendous movie last night. Robert
Duval, Kevin Costner and Annette Bening in Open Range. It is
a killer good Western and of course Duval and Costner are
magnificent cowboys.

Yes, I have been watching the weather especially because of what has gone on down here and in Virginia and DC area. Obama has declared the area around me (but not where I live) a disaster area. The Midwest has been pummeled too. You are right- crazy weather!

Reminds me of Sheldon in Big Bang Theory where he has all his emergency evac plans. Good idea.

I am not ready to evacuate -- ms grasshopper here. We stayed for Charlie, despite the fact that we did not have storm shutters (we do now). We were lucky. Ed wouldn't go because of the animals. Shelters won't take them. One couple came back looking for their kitty. I don't think they ever found her. He also won't leave his antiques. We have a pretty good house, we have natural protection in the form of offshore mangrove islands.
That's about it.

The Goddess is on a rampage but I am glad you have storm shutters.

Fire and the weather are two things beyond our control. I do think we need
a storm shelter though.

I like your disaster plan. I was thinking today that we need to catalog our valuables in case of a fire.
It wasn't possible to run over there today. We were running to and fro trying to prepare for the Kid's Crusade. I'll make it sometime soon!

Don't worry about it. I know how busy you are and y ou are going to be
even busier with all the watering.

It is pleasant in the northeast, cool actually for a few days and we could actually use a bit more rain. Finally got .2 of an inch last night, but that's not enough after 9 days without. You'd think that the mountains could handle rain better than Florida can, but even at 1000 and 2000 feet above sea level, huge areas in the valleys can flood. Oh well, I really don't worry much about things I can't control. Stay safe.

We sure can't control the wind and the water, much less the man made disasters. It is getting so hot..l05 yesterday.

You are so way ahead of us.We are not as prepared that you are.
Makes a lot of sense there.Enjoy the evening. The fire in Colorado started with someone shooting target and spark the fire. This was the start of this.

Just get a few things ready to grab and go. These hurricanes spark storms.

This is a good reminder that I was going to move my computer backup DVDs to the evacuation staging pile in the garage. I'll go do that now.

We have our stuff packed in cases that we can just grab. Of course we have
to get it out when we need it so it is kind of a mess.

The world is a scary place even without the weather. It is scary though when there is that total loss of control...
