Re-inventing Oneself

My daughter, Linda, is busy becoming a new woman. She has
lost a lot of weight, from a size 16 to a size 6 and aiming
for a two. She bought a new wardrobe and new makeup. I am
proud of her and it is rubbing off on me.

Heretofore, she has been content to admire her beautiful
daughters and now she has some richly deserved me time.
Four children can squeeze all of the fun and games right
out of you. They are all grown up now and it is time for
her to rediscover herself.

I went through a phase of just putting my hair up in a knot
and not caring how heavy I was getting. Linda has inspired
me to diet and find a hair dresser who is a genius. She has
turned me on to a better foundation and we are having a
good time with it all.

Superficial you say? Maybe but when you look better, you
feel better.

Amen! Go for it! My hair is always disheveled and my pre pregnancy clothes still don't fit which bothers me. I'll get there eventually.

Superficial? Why not! I still color my beard. Makes other people think I'm as young as I feel. Go for it!!

Why not? Anytime you can lose weight it is a plus for your health. I know it is superficial but when I put on makeup I feel better about myself.

So do I and it is more pleasant for those around us.

why not ----grow old gracefully is the word and is the way to go

I never thought I would care about how I looked at this age, but I find
that I still do.

Delighted to learn you are all re-inventing yourselves. I remember the 60s when the flower children were into no make-up and wondered how they would handle getting older without it. Also, there was a trend of no cosmetic surgery ever, and grow old gracefully, and God wants us to age gracefully and I'm thinking put a sock in it. I believe in looking good and it does, indeed, make a difference because these people who talk about aging gracefully walk right by the little old ladies, straight for the foxy looking ones.

This is so nice - I remember the first time I visited you, and you told me she looked so old for her years. Now, she's found the fountain of youth.

She will soon be 63 and is having the time of her life. She deserves it.
