Belgium has passed a law that terminally ill children can
be put to death if they so desire. Are children really
mature enough to make that decision? There is no age limit.

On a happier note, Adrienne has a dinner date tomorrow night
with Dakota and got flowers and candy from him today. We
knew they hung out together all the time but this was our
first clue as to their romantic feelings.

Phyllis has been on a cruise and her sister has been alone so
I have been taking over food. Carol is anorexic and if she
has to prepare it just won't eat. She doesn't eat much at
all.

Rex was diagnosed with a fatty tumor on his ear but the Dr.
said at his weight and age she didn't want to put him under
anesthetic to remove it. His weight is a disgraceful 12l.

It has been heavenly today. So warm and balmy that is is
coatless weather. I went shopping...for jeans, nothing
very exciting.

I have a play date with Nova and niece on Sunday. It will
be nice to get out. We are going to an art museum in
Norman. I haven't seen Dawn for a long time and I am
looking forward to it.

I sent a big card to Mr. YouKnow for Valentine's Day. Usually we're together this time of year. He never was much of a hearts and flowers kind of guy, but wouldn't it be nice if just once he'd think to send flowers?

I like gestures. Ted took me out to lunch today.

Benny has had a fatty tumor in the skin of his rib cage for many years. It stays the same size and doesn't bother him so his vet also recommended no action due to lack of need to remove it.
As for Belgium: These laws need to be kept in context. I have followed the Final Exit Network for quite some time now. Some people, including me, believe that death with dignity is a basic human right. The phrase "put to death" goes to show just how much more work on this issue needs to be done. Why should a person of any age be forced to live to the painful end when they already know that they are terminally ill? Why not die in peace at a chosen time? Making the choice available is not the same thing as requiring a person to make the choice. I'm aware of the arguments that say people will feel pressured for a variety of reasons to end their lives, but that misses the point. Speaking for myself, my greatest fear isn't a heart attack or cancer. It's being paralyzed and unable to make my final exit when the time is right. Therefore, I continue for everyone to have the same right that I demand for myself.

I have that same fear John but I wonder about little children have the
maturity to make that decision. I am kind of on the fence, Holland has
a similar law but the child has to be twelve before he can make the decision.
