Protests at the State Capitol

The protest by 250 women was all about legislation that attacks a woman's right to have control of her own body.
The Republicans have had control of the house since 2004 and
have approved thirty anti-abortion measures. This event was
not just about Oklahoma but they cited proposed decriminalizing
domestic violence in Topeka in order to balance their budget.

These steps take women back to the sixties when women had
minority status. The march and protest was sponsored by
the League of Women Voters, Trust Women and the Oklahoma
Coalition for Reproductive Justice.

It seems to me that our legislative body could better occupy
themselves with education, an overhaul of the welfare department and health care. We have an issue with water
rights and other pressing problem. They are pandering to
the tea party mind set and not taking care of business. I
hate to say it, but it is ever thus with politicians.

I don't know enough about politics to make any informed opinions. However, the same basic issues exist here in Canada. My personal take on the abortion issue is that it should be a personal, private, circumstance considering choice - BY THE WOMAN!! Most governments consist largely of the male of the species - seen any pregnant men lately??

Everyone should be out there voting and should think through these issues.

Hmm... something on Nightly News about this... Court says legislation goes against Supreme Court rulings. Somebody is trying to get enough signatures to get a measure on the ballot... Damn schmutz. Hard to believe there are so many backward-looking people in this country....

For years, women were battered and abused and now the Topeka, Kansas would say it is not a crime, just blows my mind.

I'm protesting with them in spirit and in action. Ohio is backsliding into the same thing, thanks to a GOP legislature. Ugh!!

This really sickens me.

In religion and politics people's beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.

It is just too bad that people seem to be regressing.

My oldest friend from Chicago (dating from early childhood) tends to be racist and negative about politics and dumps on me for giving a damn because "no politician can be trusted,"they are all thieves" and thus she justifies her prejudices and is highly likely not to vote. She whines a lot too. My oldest friend in New York, from the early 60s, foreign born, but a citizen, feels the same. I don't discuss politics with them because they are rigid in their mind sets. I also don't admire them very much any more. So it goes. I don't dump them because of a shared history.

I know, I have those kind of friends too. Rigidity is the enemy of thought.

If you don't vote, keep your mouth shut! You have no right to complain about anything.
