My Problem Child

Rex is the most lovable dog in the world and he gets in a lot of trouble due to his ingrained love of hunting. Sunday morning he was bitten by something with nasty sharp teeth. He came limping into the house and acted lethargic. We were frantic and called the vet...we got the give him two aspirin and call me in the morning, if his leg is broken he will be ok, as long as you keep him off of it
response.
The broken leg was our diagnosis since it was beginning to swell.

We treated him like an invalid and by nightfall he was walking on it and frisky. It was still swollen but he wasn't in distress. The next morning the swelling was gone.

We think it was probably a snake. When the copperhead got him on the nose last year, our vet told us that dogs handled snake bites really well.

Ted and I could hardly have been more upset. He is like a
child to us. If we had to sum up his personality, I would say that he is a loving trickster. He loves to slyly steal things and then flaunt them. He is giving Ted more gray hair...but not me...I intend to be blonde forever.

A snake bite! That would scare me as well.

Jeri, your title said it perfectly: Rex is your child! It is natural to be distressed when he is in pain... and the vet kind of dismisses it. Glad he's better... But.. a SNAKE BITE?? Oh heavens! Love... absolutely LOVE the last paragraph!!

I prefer a vet who gets as worried as I do. Rex sounds like a scamp. You and me, blonde babes.
