The Morning Paper

My Sunday morning treat is to lounge around the house and
read the Sunday paper. It usually makes me angry with it's
tea party bias and it certainly did not fail to arouse my
ire this morning.

The front page showed pictures of 2,000 people who met at
the capitol, wearing guns and holsters protesting gun control.
Gun control would not have any effect on their right to own
a legally registered gun for self defense but no, they all
wanted the right to own assault weapons also. Are they all
so stupid that they do not understand that these weapons
belong only in the hands of the military and the Police?
Do they not understand that the NRA profits from the sale of
guns? Gun show owners and operators have a huge advertisement
in today's paper also and have a vested interest in selling
assault weapons and ammunition.

Personally, I disapprove of hunting. I would rather be an
old deer than a dead one and you can call it harvesting but
it is still killing. Nine tenths of the people who hunt do
not eat the meat.

I feel ashamed of my state because they sanctioned an open
carry law. It is not the wild west anymore.

I think it's all about the size of their privates. They don't feel powerful unless they have powerful weapons and they don't change their minds even when they see the devastation these policies encourage.

Annie, get your gun... who says Oklahoma is not the wild west? It is almost as bad as being a resident of Florida.

Isn't it a mess!!

I like your take on hunting... I'd rather be an old deer than a dead one. Well said!

The killing and abuse of all creatures great and small is of great concern to
most of us.

Really, I am surprised that it made the news there. It is such an outdated
attitude.

I'm very uncomfortable around guns, and even more uncomfortable around gun lovers!

So right Marta. I wish you could have seen the pictures. Ignorance personified.

I think it is hilarious that 5 people in various states were accidentally shot at gun shows this past weekend. It underlines what a mistake it is to hand out guns to any idiot who wants one or several.

It is funny. They are never content with just one gun.

They understand all of what you outlined. They want the firepower to overthrow the government if it get tyrannical (in their opinion). Unfortunately, the weaponry of 200 years ago is outdated and they will never match the power of the government. I always picture a bunch of geezers with assault weapons and backpacks full of ammo running from an air strike. Guess you're right in the final analysis: they don't get it.

Let's just hope there are more of us than them. People have gotten so
lawless lately and don;t seem to realize how anarchy would affect them.
