We had to go back to Shawnee to pick up three of Ted's prescriptions. It was cloudy and I wanted to make Candy. You know that is a no no when it is cloudy. Ted told me it was ok, just an old wives tale so I made a batch of pralines. Despite the candy thermometer and the soft ball test being positive, they failed to get hard. It evidently is fact. I fixed them with powdered sugar and we will eat that batch.
I had a lovely surprise. A friend that I hadn't seen in twenty years called to say hello. We used to have so much fun but her life has been taken over with caring for her mother who has Alzhiemers with combative dementia. She is caring for her at home and the doctor is giving Bea's mother a sedative. She said it helped. I love Bea and wish I could help her. She lives in Texas and we just never get to see each other. She said life was like a desert island with the two of them isolated together.
I took care of my Salvation Army angel today. We enjoy doing that. Nearly everything is done buy the candy making and I always make an applesauce cake with red and green fruit in it. Only the good stuff, none of that nasty citron.
Have a great day. Jeri
