A Mixture of Pain and Pleasure

First of all the joyous news that Laura is driving to see
us today. I haven't seen her for three years. We are in
touch every day but it will be so good to give her a good
hug and we have thought of several things that she would
enjoy doing.

Now for the bad news. Bobby has to have another PET scan.
There are nodules in his lungs. After all that poisonous
Chemo that he endured, we are hoping against hope that it
is not cancer. He had a private disability insurance but
yesterday was the last day of it and the oncologist is
doing the paper work to extend it to long term disability.
The co-pays on his health insurance are exorbitant. He
had a CT scan last week since he is having a lot of distress
from the loss of a lot of his colon. It is evidently as
good as it gets and something he has to live with.

I never trouble trouble until trouble troubles me so I can
just going to enjoy being with Laura and hope for the best.
Am I cynical in believing that there would be a cure for
cancer if there was not so much money involved in the
treatment? Greed is so pervasive in our society.

Greed is killing us, literally. I am sorry for Bobby and man I hope it's not cancer, he has been through enough lately. I hope you enjoy your time with Laura!

Laura and I have been enjoying ourselves. We keep checking to see if Skylar has made an appearance. It had to go and turn cold again and she is going
to have to take an alternate route home. I am trying not to think about
Bobby's health until the PET scan is done..then I will cope.

So sorry to have to go through this ordeal again.A never ending story.
Hope that Laura can fill the void there and knowing that she will.
Mike will called her tomorrow night and put the phone on speaker as I can hear it at times.
Depending the accuracy of the hearing aid.

We are having a good visit. Laura arrived safely after a l2 hour drive and
she even managed to take in an art gallery on the way. I hope she rested well last night. She hates Kansas as much as we do now. It is interminable.

We are catching up and it was wonderful to see her again. She is the most
helpful person and she came and helped out after we moved four years ago.
This time we can just have fun.

I am distressed to know you are going through this again. Cancer treatment has evolved greatly over recent years. I have many friends who are in remission from breast cancer and I am so far one of them. I think the money involved is not so much a reason for not finding a cure as it is the m.o. for health care in general. The Affordable Health Care Act was decimated and needed changes as the single payer provision were not made because of the right wing push on behalf of insurance companies. I think that is where the problems are. And, of course, timely diagnosis is key.

So glad you will have a respite with Laura. Take pictures. Laura can post. Thinking of you.

We are hoping for the best. He hasn't really felt well since the chemo.
The oncologist said it may be nothing and we are hoping for the best but
we have to be sure. Rex remembered Laura and she brought him a gift of
pet wipes. He enjoys being rubbed down with them.
