Losing

Loss seems to be a part of life and the longer one lives, the more losses beset us. Rex was apparently healthy, except for numerous tumors when all of a sudden he started
limping. At first, we thought he had something in one of his paw but he didn't and so last Monday we took him to the vet. She asked me if I was willing to give him medicine
twice daily and I agreed. The medicine didn't work and I
had begun to think her diagnosis of spinal trouble was wrong. I believe he had a stroke or bone cancer. His
walking got horrible and he moaned when he laid down. It
was very difficult for him to get up.

By Thursday night, we new we couldn't save him and the best
option was to euthanize him. Friday morning it was impossible to get him in the car so we called a mobile vet
and a cremation service. We spoiled him terribly the last two weeks with lots of love and many treats. He passed away in the room he loved best....the kitchen.

The house seems so empty now without his presence. He and little Muffin, a Yorkie were the two best dogs we
have ever had.

You are so right about accumulated loss over the years. The loss of innocent critters has always been the roughest.

It just killed us to see him suffer. He managed to limp outside to go to the bathroom the morning he died. His paws just trembled when he tried to put them down. He was such a good boy.

All of us know what it is like to lose a beloved pet. However, what they give us is worth all the pain.

I know you went through the same thing with Kramer and understand completely.

Definitely one of the best dogs ever. He was such a good sport about moving from the country to the city.

As long as Rex had us he was happy. He loved you too and was always
glad to see you.
