Shopping

Our local Sears store is closing and I saw the most wonderful machine. It was a very large driving leaf
picker upper and was on half price sale at 489.00. I loved
it because the leaves sit on our lawn until I rake
them up. You drive this thing and it gobbles up leaves!
However, Ted was not interested.

I went with Ted and he is not a good shopper. I had to encourage him to get a pair of Khakis and of all things
leg warmers because his legs are always cold. I ended up
buying leg warmers for my 4 grandaughters too. Adrienne
will be needing them on cold days as she has to walk across the campus and it is very large and then Laura is walking all over NYC. Sara and Ashley need them, Sara for band directing and Ashley for marching. I put them with my store of items that I am giving them for Christmas.

Adrienne learned to make home made pasta in Italy. I haven't had any of it but Ellie says it is delicious. She
became an avid wine drinker too and says her month in Italy was the best thing she has ever done. One big plus was a credit for six hours of art history. Since her
degree will be in Chemical Engineering, I think this
experience will be invaluable.

Life without our beloved Rex goes on. I still look for
him when I wake up. It has not dawned on Jose that he is dog in chief and he hasn't been barking although he has his nose to the carpet smelling where Rex h as been.

I have more tomatoes than I can use and am giving them
away. They are all coming from one plant and I don't
remember the name of it. It has been a wet summer. I am grateful because there is nothing better on sandwiches
than a sun ripened tomato. We eat them sliced in lieu
of a salad most days.

I am a tomato junkie, and buy the vine riped ones in the market even though they are more expensive. My efforts to grow them failed miserably. Put me on your list. Ed bought a riding mower a few years back. It keeps needing repair. He is not using it at all and now we have a lawn service that mows and edges (an art). I'd like him to get rid of it because it takes up big space in the garage. I am thinking you need another dog. I know, it's work and can be expensive, but nothing works like a big kiss from a big dog to put things right. And it might take the edge off your loss although, in my experience, grief over a missing animal never ends. And Jose might perk up too. P.S. Is Laura happy in NYC? I can't imagine not. xx, T

Now I definitely want a tomato sandwich. Sounds like your family is doing well this summer. I still keep thinking of both dogs following you around... I hope Jose is okay. His job title is elevated now.

I put a tomato on my grilled cheese sandwich and it was wonderful. I gave away two batches of tomatoes yesterday. If you were all closer, I would put you om my list.

You can dip the excess tomatoes in boiling water and skin them to make a simple sauce to freeze. I think it was on mybloggers that I read the directions so it was probably posted by Laura.
That leaf grabber sounds like a great tool. I don't buy things like that (roto tiller etc) that I have to find storage space for and only use once per year, but it still sound like a great tool!

I thought the leaf grabber was a wonderful buy but Ted's comment was where would you keep it. It was larger than a riding mower. I will check on Laura's recipe.

They are great when they are vine ripened. Are you a fan of tomato sandwiches?
