A Holiday from Responsibility

Ted and I got up this morning and decided that we had had it. It was time to play hooky and just have fun. We headed off to our favorite flea market and to the antique store that never fails to delight us.

At the flea market, I got a wrought iron table base for l.00, a brass rooster for 50 cents, and a set of chess, backgammon, Chinese Checkers and the pieces for 2.00. The boards are wooden and not bad looking. I am going to use the table base outside, I have a top for it.

At the antique shop, I found a very small butcher block table on casters that fits my tiny kitchen and has a place for knives and a drawer for other utensils. It is perfect for making pies. I have been collecting the cobalt blue fostoria glasses that avon used to come in and found three more today at 60 percent off. Ted found an authentic old brass horn for a model A and a coin for his collection. We were thrilled. .

We had lunch in the tea room and ate chicken burritos. They were served with rice and beans and the most wonderful salsa. We visited with our friends and the people at the flea market and it was a pleasant break from routine. Now we can get down to business tomorrow and accomplish some of the things we have been putting off.

The carpenter finished Bobby and Ellie's patio, (my project) and now he can start on the cabinets inside their house which is their project. All in all it has been a great day.

Sounds great. They were called swap meets in Calif. I still have "stuff" I bought 40 years ago.

There's a town about 90 minutes away named Arcadia. Its main
street is antique shops from one end to the other. We went once and
will go again. It was severely damaged after Charley, but is
bouncing back.

What a great day! One can 'hear' how much you enjoyed the day in in your tone, your words. Bet you were smiling as you were typing!

You had a wonderful day!! I just discovered flea markets and antique stores and thrift shops about 6 or 7 years ago... from one of my best friends. We used to go together. It was an amazing experience.

What a great adventure at the flea market! I'm envious.

Mike and I both loved to hit the flea market and shops.
But we cannot find things like we used to.
Remember back a few years ago,we always came home and fill the
table with all of the things that we bought.
But we do not collect what you do,but very, very early things.
or anything that we can make mone.
