The Holiday Doldrums

Here we are with four days off and nothing going on! We are
not popular. I have tried to think of something amusing to
do or someplace to go but even our relatives aren't available.
Ellie suggested that I go three blocks and visit them tonight
so I may do that.

Ted ran amok with the power washer today and then was too tired to put everything back in place but tidying up has no
appeal.

Friday nights, since Bobby has been sick, I cook a take out
meal for them. He isn't up to getting up and coming over and
it is something that relieves Ellie of some of the cumulative
tiredness she feels on Friday night. It was pot roast tonight with roasted vegetables from the garden. It is my pleasure
because I feel it is helpful.

Holidays are not what they used to be!

I'm sure Ellie and Bobby appreciate your dinners. You're a dear one, you are.

I keep forgetting it is Labor Day weekend. Our former invites have attrished (I made up that word) due to friends having problems. We don't do cookouts. Ed is busy with so much. We are, however planning to have just one couple over in a week or so for dinner. That's about it.

We've totally lost touch with what Labor Day should be about, and it doesn't help that so many schools start up in August, so it doesn't even signal the end of summer vacation time. Around here, the summer season started at Memorial Day and went until Labor Day, but now it is the month of July.
