Gocery Prices ... Gulp!

I could not
take in the increase in the price of Jimmy Dean's Hot
Sausage and in deli sliced turkey in one week. Both of them
went from 3.49 to 5.79 in one week's time. It is outrageous!

I think that the price of food and gas is not figured into
the cost of living. If I am right this is another slap in
the face to people who suffer the most when inflation
strikes.

I will be doing big grocery shopping tomorrow. Who knows what surprises are in store.

By the way did you see Kristy's beautiful baby boy on
Facebook this morning? He is so big and looks so good.
I wish all the joy that a sweet, protective son brings
to his mother. What a beautiful family and we got to
watch it grow. Just another bonus from blogging.

Since I seldom buy meat, I thought it was just my poor memory about food prices. The ground beef a couple of weeks ago was almost twice what I expected.

It is shocking. My grocery bill is astronomical. I cook one big meal
on Friday night for my son and his family and enough roast to go around
is at least twenty dollars or more. When I got married in l948, my grocery
bill was l2.50 a week, of course that was a long time ago.

There is a huge drop in grain prices because this year will be a big big bumper crop. That adds to the increase in cattle. Maybe? Hope.

Let us hope so. I am not as much of a carnivore as I used to be but I
do like a good steak.

Hopefully the falling fuel prices will result in more cattle and pigs and a glut of meat products. But don't hold your breath.

These things get handed to the consumer so slowly.

I only buy meat on sale and at BJ's where steaks are 1/2 the price from our local market. But I know that prices are going up all the time. The increases you mention are outrageous. Hooray for the new baby.

I am going to the AFB to buy groceries at the commissary. They have excellent meat, usually at a small discount. Almost six dollars for a
pound of sausage really got my goat.

Awe - thanks for the shout out! We are doing well.

I hear ya on the price increases, seems constant! Boo.

I loved the picture. Hope your Mom is there to help out when you go home.

Unfortunately, you are correct about the cost of food (I'm not sure about gas). Food prices aren't counted in the COLA for SS either.

I don't think it is fair not to count food and gasoline. Both are necessities for working families and for us retired persons as well.
