A Gift That Keeps on Giving.

I have been ruthless about throwing mail away but one called
Heifer got my attention. It is all about giving animals to
people who can then start a small industry. The people
who received goats were able to drink the milk and make cheese and it seems that the goats reproduce three times a
year. I hadn't donated for Christmas this year and don't
usually donate to international causes but I couldn't help
but be fascinated with the idea. The upshot was that I
donated half a goat to the cause.

I have been disgusted with charities who pay their staff
large amounts of money with little donated money going to
the cause. I hope this one is not a scam.

I add: half a goat, huh? what if they were selling donkeys? then you would be buying half an ... never mind.

The Heifer Project is an old one--worthwhile, so I've heard. You "done good".

Good. I hate to be scammed and I think charity begins at home but this concept really appealed to me.

I am now throwing away all mail from the Humane Society, the Southern Poverty Law Center, The Sierra Club, the ASPCA, a food charity and some obscure charities that got my name when it was sold by one or more of these outfits -- I am also throwing away renewal mail since they send it 3 months after you have renewed. I won't be renewing any of it. They abuse their privilege and I've had enough.

I hear you. I hate the fact that they sell your name.

Hmmm Look into the Farm Sanctuary as well. https://farmsanctuary.org/rescue/rescues/2011.html
Clearly you decide where your money will go, but it's really a GREAT animal cause...

I will Kristy. I try to donate a certain amount of money monthly.

I have heard of this one, my son's school did a fundraiser for it one year. It's really a great cause.

Mary, it appealed to me as a way for people to gain some independence.

Buffy is such a good little dog. I wonder if cod liver oil would help him.
I got plenty of doses of that when I was a child.
