Far from the Madding Crowd

This is a movie made from the wordy Thomas Hardy novel and
I would rate it as one of the top ten movies that I have
ever seen. The plot is complex and I won't even attempt a
summary. It starred Julie Christie and Peter Finch and
Terrence Stamp.

One of the bonus features of this film was the sound track.
The dialogue was crisp and the music fabulous. Julie Christie sang several old English ballads to the flute,
played by Alan Bates who also had a major role in the film
and did it beautifully.

The countryside was gorgeous. I think it all took place in
the Midlands but it may have been Scotland or Ireland. The
description just said it was in Thomas Hardy Country.

I got it at the library, expecting little from it and was
ever so greatly surprised.

I think you will love it. My farm background may have influenced me toward it.

I can't keep up with you. I think all my workouts make me so tired I just don't try. By the time I go to the library I will have forgotten what you recommended.

You would really love this one. It is as different from every day life as sci fi in a good way. There is beauty, love, obsession, murder all set in
Victorian times.

I had never even heard of it. It must have been during one of my
periods of being single when I seldom even thought about going to the
movies. I have a question for y ou but I will message it.

I frequently try to follow up on your book recommendations--seldom movies since I don't watch them, but this sounds good. I just noticed we commented on Dottie's post simultaneously! Check it out.
