Falling in Love

I just met the most beautiful boy. He is an Irish Wolfhound
and he weighs l66 lbs. He is a gentle giant like Rex and
loves everyone. His proud mama says he is tremendously
good with children.

I meet all kinds of animals when I am out walking. I confess that I am not so crazy about the little yippy dogs but they
are more practical for city life. I am sure that such a
big dog requires a lot more exercise than he gets, just as
Rex does. Rex is so disobedient and so strong that I cannot
walk him. He breaks away and runs wild and is almost impossible to retrieve. He likes to tease me.

Bobby and Ellie have a Yorkshire Terrier and she is a
delight to walk, even though she has a nasty disposition
toward everyone not in her immediate family. She has the
heart of a lion in that tiny little body.

Big dogs just suit me better.

There are so many wonderful dog breeds, and it's interesting to discover some of the odd behaviors that are typical of each one that overlie the individual traits of a given dog.

Donna wants a little dog, but I figure, Hell, she already has two guinea pigs--same thing.

My cousins were raising some Irish wolfhounds and I think they were taller than 6 feet when up on their hind legs. With their front feet on a fence or someone's shoulders, of course. They didn't walk around that way.

I am sure they would be taller than six feet when standing on their hind legs. This one is chest high to me standing on four feet...and so sweet!

That Rex!!!
I have told Ron that we will have at least one Irish Wolfhound in my lifetime. They are soooooo adorable but they don't live long...

I know that big dogs break your heart because they don't live long. You
have to get one for the children when they are a little older. The Goldens
are wonderful with kids too, as you know!

I am fond of most breeds. I fell in love with a couple of the little ones over the past several years. Full of personality, feisty to be on their own. Once I picked up Tyler, a shitsu, and carried him back to John (who now has Buster) because he ignores traffic. Tyler died about 4 years ago, and I felt I had lost a friend.

Of all the dogs we have owned, and we loved them all, Muffin was a large
Yorkie and Rex stand out as the most beloved. Both of them are like children. Dogs and cats are wonderful but I think Cats live the longest
if they are kept inside.
