Encounters of the Worst Kind

Hi. My name is Rex and I am blogging for my Mom today.

Last night as I was taking my constitutional, I smelled a
warm furry body under the garden shed. I had been sniffing
something under there for a long time. Mom is unreasonable
about digging but she forgot to check on me. Conditions
were perfect. The ground had been too hard but we had a
nice rain and it was cool.

Talk about unreasonable! That black and white striped kitty
sure didn't want to play. He sprayed something horrible
right in my nose. When I scratched on the door and went in, my mom said, "I am not in the mood for a tomato bath tonight."
My dad said, "He is sleeping in the garage." Let me
tell you, I was hurt. I bark at all the senior citizens
walking by my house. I charm all visitors and when she sneaks
dog food into my bowl, as long as it is topped with a can of
chicken, I try to eat it. I am my Dad's nurse and when he
goes to bed I sleep with him. What more can a guy do?

Mom took her box of dryer sheets and rubbed me down. It
felt so good on my nose and all this oily old brown gunk
came off on them. She tucked one into my collar and rubbed
me down with cologne. I let her have her way with me because I am such a good boy. Besides it made me smell
better and I no longer had to grind my nose into the carpet.

Thanks for listening. Rex

Dryer sheets, huh? I wish I'd known that a couple of weeks ago when my wife got sprayed...

Awww... that is the sweetest thing, to have such a nice mom to love you even when you smell like skunk! You must be a really good dog.

I learned something. No need for messy baths. I hope Rex learned something.

I hope he doesn't consider getting tangled up with any more of them. They
are evil.

Why'd that skunk choose your yard? I've smelled one around here a couple of times, but the minks also smell skunky, so it could be one of them.

I would have thought he would choose next door where there are no dogs but I
guess the shed provides shelter underneath.

Wow! You're fortunate that it worked. I didn't get Benny cleaned up in time and the house stunk for six weeks. They say (not sure who they is in this case) but I heard that you have to get it in the first 15 minutes or it dries and all the cleaning you do doesn't help. I have the supplies on hand, peroxide, baking soda and dish soap, but I haven't had to use it. LOL Same as with the generator... I get these things after the fact. Give Rex a pat on the head. He was just being a dog.

He must have come to the door as soon as he got sprayed. I didn't dream
dryer sheets would work but they did. The brown oily gunk came right off.
He got instant relief for his nose.
