I got up this morning at 4:30 because Linda and Sara and
her family and my sister and my nephew will be here for
Sunday lunch.
So far, I have made an angel food cake with the assistance
of Betty Crocker, a cherry cobbler and two coconut pies,
put on a roast and readied a ham for the oven and put baked
beans in the slow cooker on low. My sister is bringing
that wonderful hash brown casserole that we can never get
enough of and she is baking an apple pie to give to Bobby
because he likes her pies better than mine. All that
remains to be done are the mashed potatoes, brown gravy
and salad.
It struck me while I was doing all this that when my
sister and I are gone, it will probably be the last of
the family get togethers. I can't see Linda or Ellie
doing it and I know Joan's kids probably won't either.
It is such a warm and wonderful time when we are all
together. The memories flow seamlessly and we talk
about the parents and grandparents that have gone before.
We want to enfold Bobby in love and have a day together
that will be memorable to us all.
