Color in My World Again

Most of you know from facebook that Bobby's cancer is showing
improvement. The nodules in his lung are cavetising, Dr.
speak for holes in them and the mass in his liver has shrunk
by one third. He was being treated with a harsher, older,
chemo and a new drug. The new drug only helps thirty percent
of the patients but fortunately he is in that thirty percent.
I had lost all hope and words just don't convey the way all
of our spirits have lifted. He will have chemo still, every
three weeks. This is the first light in the tunnel because
he has had thirty chemo treatments so far and the last
series is the only response he has had to treatment.

We are enjoying this holiday weekend. Sleeping late and
going to the movies and out to eat Chinese. We saw Blended
which was light and funny. We have a good theater near
us and it is easy to get to and to get Ted's wheel chair
in and out. We can hardly wait for Jersey Boys. We are
stuck in the time warp when it comes to music. The fifties
and sixties stuff makes us feel young once more.

I have lost twenty three pounds and gained three back because the kids leave snack food all over the house. I
banished it all to the pantry.

Washing and cleaning the car are also on my agenda. It
is hard to keep it nice and clean with the kids in and out
every day. They aren't messy but they do track grass and
dirt in. Adrienne will get her license this summer and she
will be doing the back and forth to school route next fall.
Her father is so over protective, I hope he will loosen up
a little.

I have 5 green tomatoes! One of my Early Girls did not
freeze. I may get them in stages which will be nice. I
have a few herbs including a curry plant that I don't quite
know how to use. Ideas anyone?

I didn't plant anything this year, but I'm hoping my raspberries and blueberries bring some fruit! I planted them in the fall. And I have a black thumb.
Very very happy to hear the news on Bobby!!!!

Oh the bliss of having blackberries and blueberries and that good soil in
Virginia. I am envious.

It has made me so happy and has energized him so that he is up and taking the
girls places.

I can relate to the relief and hope you are feeling -- it is a light at the end of the tunnel you have been living in. And if Bobby also feels it, that helps the healing process. Congratulations on your weight loss. Wish I could grow tomatoes, my favorite. My neighbor puts me to shame with her vegetable garden and brings me greens and recently three ripe, great tomatoes. I don't know how she does it.

Homegrown tomatoes have no relationship to the kind that you buy in the
store. They are so good. Try a little pear tomato in your flower bed.
They are great for salads. We dare to hope now. I think we had all
given up and he is so much more optimistic.

I planted some early girls today. One looked to be in sad shape, but I have to go back to the nursery on Tuesday anyway, so I can fill in if need be. One plant has a few flowers, so hopefully my first greens won't be too far behind yours! I think I'll be blogging later--it was a great day to be outdoors.

You won't be far behind me on tomatoes. I love Early Girls and I have one
pear tomato. You deserve a pretty day after that awful winter.

I try to take life one day at a time and not deal with worry every single
day but of course that has been a cloud over every day that he has been ill.
