Christmas Party

Last night we braved the elements to attend a party at the
Governor's Mansion. It was not all that cold but there was
a nasty drizzle and a ghost like fog. Evidently the roads
were very slick and we encountered many wrecks along the
way.

The Pavilion where the party was held was decorated beautifully, there was an open bar and snacks. The
Governor and her husband were available for picture
taking and musical entertainment was provided although
it couldn't be heard over the party clamor. I enjoyed
the party and there is a picture on facebook of my friend
Phyllis, Ellie and myself.

There were so many car wrecks on the way home that we had
to take a circuitous route home as two of the main streets
were closed. A friend's grandaughter was involved in one
of the wrecks. She wasn't hurt but her car was totaled.
The roads were slick and many drivers were going too fast.
I am so sorry that the holidays will be tainted with
memories of car accidents.

Governors may come and go, but hopefully the nice art and furnishings are there to stay.

Yes, I am hoping for a Democratic administration next time. I never
realized how little privacy the Governors have. It would drive me
batty.

I wondered the same thing. But I think you've said you give tours of the mansion?

Yes, I am a docent at the mansion and it comes with little perks like the
party.

Yeah, what Teal said! I didn't know you were so influential in Oklahoma!

I am really not at all influential but this was because of my work
conducting tours of the mansion and I was able to invite a guest. Ted
didn't want to go so I took my DIL.

You apparently did enjoy the party. How come you got an invitation to the Governor's party?

I did enjoy the party and the beautiful decorations. My volunteer work
at the mansion is so much fun. I just describe the furnishings and art
and their provenance. All the docents were invited and given nice gifts.
