Cherry Pie

I have lost l9 lbs so I have to have a reward. I am making
a cherry pie with phyllo dough, my first venture into using
it. I made the kids an apple pie the same way. I will have
to walk it off when it gets cooler.

I have changed clothes twice today, I got so dirty working
in the yard. Ted has pulled all the concealed objects that
need to be hauled off in plain view. I liked it better when
they were behind the garden shed.

My new yard crew has not shown up and the back yard got so
dense that I had to weed eat it. I hate that.

Just sampled the pie. It is very good and so much easier
than pie crust. I apparently have lost my knack with pie
crust.

My sympathies to Rosie Rosebud. China was on a special diet
due to kidney problems. I am sending my love to all the
animals on our blog and on face book. I wish other people
took as good a care of them as we all do.

So sad about Rosie. I have never made Phyllo dough. Guess I will look up a recipe.

Purrs are the most soothing sound in the world. They put me to sleep.

That cherry pie didn't do me any favors.

I used to bake pies but always used Flako and did okay using ice cubes in the water, and a plastic, zippered round bag to contain the dough and roll it out without problems. I wore the bag out. But I stopped with the pies because it was too difficult to maintain my discipline.

Our sweet tuxedo cat, Sniff, had kidney disease. We hydrated him twice a day by hanging a bag from a ceiling hook and inserting a needle subcutaneously for some minutes. It worked well and when he died, his kidneys were healthy but he had cancer in his intestines. Ed wants to get another kitty because he misses Chewy whom we lost in August. Brunswick is aging sadly and I worry we will not have him for the year. I don't bear these losses well, but the thought of no kitties is just as bad.

You can never replace a kitty but you can always love a new one. The animal
shelters are a good source and often a stray appears just when you need one.

I have to switch my pie crust recipes around every so often because one that has worked great for several years all of a sudden doesn't come out so well, just one of those things.

The vinegar and egg one is usually my best bet. I err on the side of too
much crisco and the crust tends to fall apart.
