Catching Up

We finally got maybe one hundreth of an inch of rain last night.
We were hoping for more since I have a bucketful of Wisteria
roots to put out. The ground is so dry. It has been funny to see the grim determination with which Mike has
displayed over the Wisteria. He was determined to get it
out and has leveled the spot where it was and planted grass.
Oh to be thirty again!

I have been having an old movie fest. Last night I watched
The long hot summer and it was so good that I may watch it
again. Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were at their best
with a good supporting cast and a great story by William
Faulkner. I may watch The Last Picture Show tonight.

The ornaments are put away but I need to get the tree down.
I need to get some lights if they still have them in the stores. Amazing how one cannot wait to get the decorations
up and then the day after Christmas we want them down.

Laura turned us on to DIY network and Ted has directions
for making a cornice board. We miscomunicate about
some things to a laughable degree. The worst we ever did
was on firewood boxes.

Have a happy and safe New Year's Eve. We will be cozy and
at home with a glass of wine. We might even make a fire.
We will drink a toast to the new year.

I have lost all interest in looking at new and old movies unless the mood "just happens" to me. I particularly have no tolerance for sitting through most beloved (at one time) old movies. "The Man in the White Suit" was on last night -- it is priceless. And yet I want to bed before it was half over.

Decorations (what few I put up) are down for another year. I'm cleaning my basement for my winter project! Yes to wine!

A clean basement is a joy. I wish that I had a basement. Out here in
tornado alley it would be an asset.

I saw it when it first came out and loved it.

I used to have my decorations down Jan 6th- traditionally the last day of Christmas. I took a lot of them down over New Years, but the 'drop dead' date for getting it put away was the 6th. I am going over to some friend's house for New Year's. They asked me to bring my Karaoke machine, so we should have fun!

I have a habit of being asleep by midnight on New Year's eve, even tho I'm often up that late on FB. Even as a kid I'd get worn out during the day... anyway, Have a good time at it!

I guess it is best to stay home on New Years Eve. I have been wanting to
have a neighborhood party but didn't get to it.
