Brr!

It is a silvery fall day and there is a definite nip in the
air. I had been longing for a cozy fire so I got up and
built one first thing. It was nice enjoying our coffee in
front of it.

Ted had physical therapy today and he has made a lot of
progress. His therapist has him walking more and sitting
less and doing the prescribed exercises. They are working
on strength and balance now.

Rex and I took the potted plants that were outside and either
covered them or put them inside. I have tarps over my front
flower bed. It is not pretty but we are due to have more
warm weather next week. In the meantime the garage is
bulging with plants and there is hardly a path through.

I had started a really good book from the library and left
it at the Therapist's office. It has me antsy because it
was a riveting story and I wanted to get to the end of it.

This is perfect weather for baking so that is how I will
spend my afternoon. I will be making a big pot of chicken
enchilada soup and homemade dilly bread. Wish you could
join me.

I was just thinking last night that I have never made a cake. Ever. That I can remember anyways. I have made brownies and other things, but not a cake. I think I will try to accomplish that task this week, but do I need a special pan? I am so clueless on this home making stuff.. OR I could make cupcakes, those are always good as well.

If you make a sheet cake you can use a large pyrex pan. I like the metal
cake pans with the lever that enables you to get the cake out without it
clinging to the bottom of the pan for layer cakes. Use a mix, preferably
Duncan Hines. They are very good now and it just isn't worth it to
go from scratch.

Good for Ted doing his therapy. Ed just re-experienced excruciating pain from some effort that grips his lower back and is back to wearing a brace. He promises, after this acute phase is over, that he will do the exercises he was told to do. So Rex "helped" you, did he? Because our bougainvillea grew into the walkway again and Ed won't let me hire it done, this morning I clipped away the branches that were slapping me in the face. That's it for this year.

The exercises make a huge difference. Ted is mostly out of his wheel chair
now. Will Ed part with part of the Bougainvillea so it doesn't reach out
and grab you?

Glad to hear of Ted's progress. That's wonderful news!

He has to be macho about his exercises because his therapist throws a fit
when he tries to skip a day. He is an excellent physical therapist.

Our worlds are upside down but I am glad you are going to have summer. Our
summer seemed too brief. We usually have a great October with no freeze
until Halloween but it has turned cold early.

I've been watching the cold weather move east on the map for a few days. It'll be here by Monday, which is fine. I'd just like a few dry days to deal with the leaves. I'll have to plant garlic tomorrow even tho it's wet. The season is definitely winding down a few degrees at at time.
CGTS to Ted on the hard work. It takes discipline to follow through on PT.

Our leaves haven't fallen yet but for some reason they all land in our yard
and in the neighbor's yard to the east of me. It is good exercise. Ted is
working but it is helping with the pain.

It's refreshing to get some cooler weather. We are still having our cold snap, bitter cold, but it will warm up next week some time, at least during the day.

I am like a lizard... ninety is my ideal temperature. Rex is in heaven.
He loves cold weather.
