I will never make red velvet cake again as long as I live.
Every mixing bowl in the house was full of red goo, the kitchen was a disaster and the taste of the cake mediocre. The birthday girl will never know because the cupcakes are
drenched in cream cheese frosting and I have a platter with
kitty faces on it to charm their little hello kitty hearts.
However, next time, if there is a next time, I will use a
yellow cake mix add 1/4 cup oil mixed with red food
coloring and two heaping spoons of cocoa. Duncan Hines makes
far better cakes than this labor intensive one.
I am having Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow night for Bobby and
his family. This is a gesture of conciliation because they
are pouting because we will be gone for the holiday. So it
is turkey and all the trimmings.
I am thinking about Christmas. So far, I just have two gifts
and am hoping we might find something unusual in Greece or
Italy. I have a feeling that the cruise is not full because
we are constantly being offered up grades. We accepted the
last one because it was dirt cheap. We were offered a penthouse suite for less than 500 each but we turned that
one down even though this will probably be our last good
trip and it would have been fun to see how the one percent
lives.
Bobby is sure we will all come to grief and that he will
have to come after us but he was confiding all this to Mark,
our lawyer and family friend, who told him to quit worrying,
he didn't have a passport.
Rex got his last shot yesterday and the vet checked him over
and said aside from weighing ll9, he was in good shape. He
prescribed a strict dry dog food diet for the boy.
I cleaned house yesterday like a demon but it will all be to
do over next week. So far I have managed to postpone the
inevitable..we have had two freezes by covering my flowers.
I will set them in the garage and try to keep the best ones
over the winter because I am unable to let nature have it's
way with me.
