A Helpfull Hint and Early Thanksgiving

I had intended to share this little gem that I got from
HGTV. White vinegar cleans tile grout. The dirt just brushes
right off. It worked on my Terrazo entry and if I do it more
often, I think the stone will come clean. It is a bit dirty
looking now. Someone probably waxed it and waxed over the
dirt.

I am baking a turkey breast, making rolls, stuffing, cranberry
sauce, cauliflower and cheese and gravy. I have made a
pumpkin pie, an apple pie and a fruit salad dressed with real
whipping cream. I have previewed the desserts and am a little
sick to the stomach but they are all good. I haven't peeled
potatoes yet but they all love mashed potatoes.

Sara is coming to "hang out" with us tomorrow and bringing
Owen. Leftovers should be abundant.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yes, vinegar is great for cleaning grout. It is also as effective for killing mold as bleach. Hope your dinner is fun after all of the cooking.

You are always so busy.

busy and happy are synonamous with me.

Your T dinner sounds great. We have been invited this year. Ed said yes, which is good, because he loves to do this dinner at home, never mind what I go through. But he took pity on me. I use white vinegar mixed with baking soda for a lot of cleaning jobs -- you make a paste. It works great on formica, the bane of homes built 40 years ago. Oxyclean also can clean grout, but I will try the vinegar.

I knew that you had said you knew how to clean grout. I don't have much
formica but will try it in the guest bath. I am so glad you are out of
the hostessing this year. It is much easier to be a guest.

I have grouted stonework by both main doors. I used stripper that last time I tried (and I do mean *tried*) to clean it. I'll try vinegar even tho it sounds too easy.

It is as easy as it sounds. Just use a good brush, I used a tooth brush and
it is the only thing that has ever worked for me.

Worn out here just reading about all that cooking. Wish I was there to help. I don't peel my potatoes for mashed - just run them through the food mill when cooked. Hugs and more hugs. Ammonia should take off that old wax, but don't mix with the vinegar just in case that forms a toxic cloud. I'm headed upstairs to introduce some vinegar to the bathroom tile grout.

I think you will like the ease with which the dirt comes up. As usual I
have been left with the dirty dishes but they are washing away right now.
Adrienne gets first prize for eating more turkey and mashed potatoes. She
loves those potatoes.
