Bad Dog! Bad Dog!

Rex has been at it again. His thieving has gotten out of hand. He tore up a bag of water softner salt, our defense against ticks, and shredded a bouquet of silk roses.

If any of you dog people have suggestions, please let me know. I know he has also visited someone who scolded him from the way he is acting. I had been letting him stay out at night because he begged but I guess that is over.

Suggestions welcomed.

Some of these entries made me chuckle. If he is an outside dog NOT on a leash and NOT contained by a fence, then I think catdancer is right on target. Be the Alpha dog... and be patient while he matures.

I see in your reply to fredo that he is only a year old. He's still a puppy in many ways, and was just getting into typical puppy mischief! If you haven't done any organized, regular training with him, you might try that. Make him earn Everything until he learns that you are the Alpha. Make him sit before he goes outside and sit again before he comes in and after he comes in. Make im sit before he eats. You get the idea. Also, if he's a velcro dog, he may very well have separation anxiety. If you don't have a holistic vet in your area, you might ask your vet if he'll prescribe some prozac for him. It's $4 a month at some of the big chain stores. My Bella is on it and it helps her quite a bit. She has some major anxiety issues. Good luck!

He'll learn. I think it takes time. I don't know for sure because I haven't had a pet since I was a kid.

PS. they were prescribed herbs which the vet gave him based on his personality.
I love holistic doctors. They really do work! Kraymer was proof...

Judah is just like that. Reward him when he's not doing it. I will just go check on him and he'll be laying there doing nothing to get into trouble, and I'll say "Good boy!" and he wags and knows that I'm saying something good. Our voices do everything with our dogs.

Does he have separation anxiety?
Kraymer had that, I took him to a holistic vet who put him on some herbs which worked a MIRACLE!
