Snow

Aaahhh. There's about 5 inches of snow out there. I don't wanna get started shoveling, but I'd better soon or I'll be doing it in the dark.

Fedex already delivered a box and it was buried in a couple of inches of snow. The snow made it a little difficult to open the screen door.

Oh, well, I had better get my coffee on and wrapped up to do it. All the neighbors have their noisy snowblowers going.

Be careful while shoveling snow. I feel fortunate to have escaped
ice and snow thus far.

We've got big winds here, the edges of the northeast storms have an impact here as well. The big water is sloshing over our seawall. I can remember blizzards in New York -- twice all traffic in and out of Manhattan was banned and one could walk straight up the main arteries.

It's so nice for once that the storm stayed east. It's usually my area on the western side of the Catskills that gets hammered.

So I guess I can't complain about the 'cold spell' we are having tonight going down to 48 degrees and possibly turning the accumulated water from the rain yesterday into a ice rink back of my building!

Well, I shoveled as much as I'm going to. Not the side steps, which are buried, but I've decided they look nice that way. One doorway is clear.

It's a really good idea to get out there early and get a start that you can maintain so it doesn't build up too deep to handle. I'm watching that storm from here, it brings back memories of a big storm in that same area in 1995 or 1996 (I think it was January 1996). I was there on business, and at one point my Ford Focus rental car was the only non-snowplow on all six lanes of the Interstate near Baltimore. I would have taken a picture, but was too busy driving with my head out the window - the wipers couldn't keep up with the fast snow fall. I'll be thinking about you!

It wasn't so bad here, when I hear about New Jersey, Washington and so on. They're up to their waists, some of them. I was the first one on my street to clear away the 3 inches we had a few days ago, but when it gets heavy and you must use a shovel instead of a kitchen broom, I am not enthusiastic. I like the winters I can get away with just a broom.
