Ruminating

Animal sightings last night while walking around my block: 0 deer, 0 frogs, 1 rabbit, 1 skunk. It suddenly cooled off to the 50s and 60s late at night for a couple of days, but is about to warm up again. I think it was geese in the early morning that I’d been hearing.

Need money! I have to do what I can towards our domain sales again, and it’s hard because we don’t sell cheaply, trying to sell mostly to reasonable-sized businesses and web developers. My favorite domains are the silly ones: BigMouse.net, FatGoat.com, FatHamster.com, EndTransmission.com, StealingSouls.com, CatBookstore.com… but trying to convince someone to pay a big price for those can be tough. (Some of these could be considered vanity domains, names you might get to make a personal site on, just something you really enjoy. But once in a while those kinds of sites really take off and become popular — hence successful.)

Pricing is not a defined thing for domains, in the least. Even with business type domains, after quoting someone a price we might get a response like a video clip emailed to us, and the video is of someone yelling, “You’re dreaming.” Or just “LOL.” Even people in the industry appraise domains all over the map.

Love the name Stealing Souls.com and CatBookstore.com. It is cooler
at night here too. I have switched to evening walking because I think
it burns more calories but I am compensated by seeing some of my favorite
dogs and their owners.

I can see a watershed stewardship website called CrazedSquirrelshumpingtrees.org and starting with a domain name like that would cause it to be so much better.
