No Need to Read. Just Politics/news Stuff

We are soon to see more deliberate and grotesque mismanagement of the federal system that I feel terrible for our country. It’s as if an 8-year-old were attempting to play president.

Trump should be led away at least in a strait jacket, if authorities can’t bring themselves to take him away in handcuffs. My face is weary of gasping. Two latest examples, which concern me as an employer and business owner:

1. The Post Office. One type of business which has really taken off in the last few years was FOOD DELIVERY or MEAL DELIVERY service such as Blue Apron. Other food delivery was well established, like gift and party foods like Harry & David. Some of those foods were perishable and had cold packs in the box, like for cheesecake and so on. So now there's more in the mail, with the addition of regular meal delivery.

Those packages of food are piling up in post offices, and some beginning to go bad. Post offices are now facing bug and vermin problems because of Postmaster DeJoy’s changes to mail service.

2. That payroll tax deferment that Trump signed an executive order about: It’s not even clear he has the authority to delay taxes at all. But he’s trying to go ahead with it.
What it actually means is that if your employer decides to agree to it, your Social Security taxes for the rest of the year will not be paid to the government. The employer might elect to take that tax and put it back in your paycheck — or the employer can put it aside to pay later.

Since this program starts Sept. 1, it means 4 month’s worth of tax not paid. That’s an awful lot to catch up with next year.

You’re better off if your employer doesn’t participate in this at all. Because next year all that tax will have to be paid before April 15th — so maybe you’ll have double taxes taken from paychecks starting next year. Even that won’t really catch up. If you haven’t paid all that tax by April 15th, then your employer has to pay what didn’t get paid in time. He can presumably get it back with deductions on your later paychecks (more double taxes). But in the meanwhile, it counted as extra income against you, and thus you owe more tax on it. It is an absolute nightmare of taxing.

Trump is now deciding that he’s going ahead with this nightmare for federal employees. I can’t believe it.

Every time you think you've see it all he outdoes himself. As for the PO: I'm signed up for Informed Delivery. The PO sends an email in the morning containing a scan of first-class mail, a generic "envelope" for lesser than first-class and a section below with the tracking number of incoming packages for Amazon and other sources. There is also a "coming soon" section with the approximate date for near-future packages. For the past several weeks the two lower sections have been blank with one or two exceptions. I've received a lot of packages so I can't help but wonder if this isn't part of the sabotage.

Ah, these two replies are certainly enlightening.

Our informed delivery here and in Las Vegas has pictures of about 20% of the first class mail we get, never mentions packages, isn't nearly as robust as what you describe.

Most days it says: "mail is coming for which there is no scan available." It always makes me angry when the post office, some news article, or know-it-all neighbor says (in that self-righteous tone of voice) 'oh, you need to sign up for Informed Delivery - it tells you about every piece of mail you have coming.' No, it does not, never has in the 3 years we've had it. We keep it because it's free and we hope that someday it will provide better information.

It is a waking nightmare. I watched him strut and listened to his brain dead family until I was thoroughly sickened. We need help and escape from this nightmare.

I swear, I think we may need to practice not thinking about him, often, to protect ourselves and our mental health. I might sign up for some good-news services so there’s an influx of better things for me think about in my email.

Now you know with that headline we have to read it!!
What can you say about him that hasn't been said already!??!?
I hope I am wrong but he will get that second term!!

Just now it’s policies I’m worried about rather than Trump himself.
When I first heard about the payroll tax thing, I was worried it would be automatic, causing me trouble with my employees.

I am sickened by his presidency and I foresaw it on election night. I was well aware of his incompetence and corruption when I lived in New York. We must prevail in the election.

I'm grateful to New York for going on with state charges against him. My fingers crossed.
