To MyBloggers Bloggers, and Donate a Chihuahua

I'm not much of a blogger and don't have a lot of friends here. Neighborliness doesn't come easy to me, perhaps due to being a loner and maybe in my posts I'm not the kindest person. But I can certainly recognize kindness in other people.

This online community has a number of really good-hearted people. I am surprised at the constant friendliness so many of you show one another, and it doesn't seem artificial at all. And there's more to you. Without naming names, you have:

*wonderful attitudes when losing homes, or jobs, or when you have serious health problems;

*some of the nicest attitudes toward the frustrations and slights of daily life;

*concern for each other's conditions;

*patient tolerance when you're attacked for your views, and resilience to maintain those personal views;

*obvious love for spouses, kids, animals, fellow humans, the world

*naivete when it comes to why government is bad, or business evil (Please notice I am looking at this as a virtue. I think we should continue to be shocked when we discover the shortcomings/crimes/neglect of businesses and government. We should never, ever get used to it.)

*a vibrant interest in improving our community and our government

*expectation that the future will bring a happy life

This community is full of life. And because of the real urgency that this political year makes me feel, I really, really hope this community becomes stronger. That it doesn't lose members, either. This year, communities are important. Just because this one's online doesn't mean it's less important than a physical neighborhood.

None of the people I read are here on MyBloggers for business networking. They're not trying to find dates, either. Their blogs are natural outpourings of sociable personalities. I really like that. Blogging is kind of like letter-writing -- but no one usually writes letters and throws them out into space and waits to see if anyone responds. The popularity of blogging really says a few things about the loneliness of the population, in a way.

I guess blogging is more like tossing bottles with messages in them out into the sea. And you keep finding mine. I'm very grateful.

I propose that we try to entice texastar to come back by posting many pictures of chihuahuas on our blogs. She will surely take a look, and might decide to respond by starting up her blog again.

Here's my chihuahua today:

Will someone else post a chihuahua?

Another great blog. Yes, the people here are really wonderful! Like kind attracts like kind, you know.

That picture is absolutely adorable!

I didn't know texastar was leaving. I'm not in the loop on a lot of stuff though; I'm a loner too.

To me you are the classy side of MyBloggers - your posts are so thought-provoking and interesting without being controversial. I wish I had your imagination and outlook on life. Love the photo. Just because you asked I'll go find one to post.

You can set it up to email people's comments to your regular email (and as far as I can tell that doesn't cause a bunch of spam). That's the only way I know when people have commented, because my Messages in MyBloggers is only where people have responded to my comments. I like it because the text of the comment on my post shows in the email.

My chihuahua is so spoiled! I've posted a pic of her before but somehow lost it. Probably when the computer died and had to have a resurestion. How about I post a great big "CHIHUAHUAS RULE"!!!

I like your tossing-bottles-in-the-sea analogy. I used to make up bedtime stories for my girls when they were little and one of their on-going favorites was the finding-the-bottle-that-floated-up-onto-shore tale which I told differently each time. I didn't realize then that I was practicing for future blogging.
