Kitchen Windowsill

Both johhnn and martin have posted about regrowing things from the cut-off stumps of vegetables, and I thought I'd try with celery and romaine. The celery sprouted almost immediately. I can't tell yet with the romaine because it wasn't cut off neatly.

I think I'll add some more grow dishes to the windows.

I've planted the sprouted celery ends in my garden, and they came up the next year on their own. They never got stalky like the original celery, but the leaves were good as herbs. We had our first big freeze last night, and I brought in a couple pots of petunias to winter over. I never thought of them as house plants, but it's been done.

Nope, not a root showing. It's in what should be a sunny window but today is the first day we had sun in a week.

Impressed with your diligence. Black thumb here salutes you.

I started another avocado seed. The last two didn't produce a plant. It's been more than a week already and nothing is happening, but that isn't unusual. I just hope I have the down-side down.

I had/have a lot of luck with Romaine--now doing seeds from peppers and tomatoes when I clean them out--green pepper plant has put out a lot of blooms

I think I'll try those too.

This could be very handy...try a few herbs.

Absolutely, some basil and chives and things. I guess I'll have a growing year after all, something other than the tall weeds I've cultivated all summer.
