Houses and Computers

My landlord, his co-owner brother, and more workers have been fixing things here since yesterday morning. They are catching up for a decade’s worth of neglect on what I think is their oldest property. They own at least 4 places that are rented out. Yesterday there was drywall being replaced in two rooms upstairs, a coat of plaster over it is now drying. Repairs of all kinds are happening outside the house: painting in front and on the side, a wall being rebuilt. The wooden steps were repaired. I guess tomorrow will be when they fix two sinks and then rebuild part of the bathroom floor. It will be incredible.

They have a buyer interested in all 4 of their rental properties, so they’re rushing to do whatever is needed.

I’ve had to move a ton of things to make way for the repairs. Being tired from that lifting and cleaning was good for me, eventually, because I have been able to get to sleep.

I’ve been forced to keep air conditioning on, with a series of fans to move cool air to rooms that don’t have an air conditioner in them. The power tools plus a.c. made power surges continually yesterday, until I finally shut down my computer. My computer wouldn’t have been harmed — it’s on a backup battery — but I thought maybe I could reduce the amount of electricity being used.

Late last night, I tried to restart, and my computer went on but the monitor did not. This morning I finally got it working again, because I searched for similar problems with my model of mac, and found a procedure to correct it. I’m so proud. I didn’t need to call anyone.

I love the computer UNTIL something goes wrong!!! It's not like in the old days when something went wrong with a TV or radio you just hit and it straightened out!!

Assuming they succeed in finding a buyer, what does that mean for the tenants? Also, when a landlord makes improvements, it often means a raise in the rent.

This buyer likes that so many of the tenants have been here a long time (one 30+ years), and since the rent was just raised (for the first time in a decade)recently, it is not supposed to go up immediately with the new guy. That's the story, anyway. He was willing to keep all leases the same. But of course we'll see if that's true.

My grandaughter restored the missing sound on my computer in 3 minutes.
She is home from her internship with Sam Sung. I adore her and her technical expertise!

send her over, Ed's computer won't give him Google any more.

It really is hard to deal with. I'm glad all my stuff is Apple, but all computer problems are becoming so complicated.
