House of Cards

I’ve been binge-watching the final season of House of Cards on Netflix, and it’s a crazy, unreal season solving the mystery of what happened to Frank Underwood. Robin Wright’s cool mask of a face now seems to rival Melania Trump’s stone face, and I found myself wishing Kevin Spacey were back. The show of course allowed no image or sound of him in this season. I wasn't crazy about him as an actor prior to this, but he really made a dynamic, arresting character. The other characters are obsessed with him in the story, too, so it's strange.

I did not read the articles about the accusations against Kevin Spacey, and only am vaguely aware they involve an underage boy. But because of the way the show echoes real events from the current White House (it spooks me how much from real life they use), this show has left me with a weird feeling that Kevin Spacey himself somehow got murdered. You’d probably understand only if you see it all.

I'm watching it too. Went back to the previous season to see how it ended because we seem to have made a big jump in the story. I finally decided an explanation of what happened to Frank Underwood is going to be doled out to us in little bits. One of the things I don't like about the plot line is it doesn't make sense that the 'president' would totally check out of doing absolutely anything for 23 or so days, and it wouldn't make much of a ripple - they should be showing us how chaotic it is for the country to run itself, and how the various underlings are coping or not coping with it. They don't need to harp on the chaos, but it's not very believable to not even mention the problems. But then, she comes up with the all-woman cabinet, so looks like she was doing *something* in the background.

And yes, I miss Kevin Spacey in the Frank Underwood role for the reasons you said.

Have you watched "Designated Survivor" on Netflix?

I haven't watched at all. I mostly just read. Too bad that so many men abused their power.

I didn't watch House of Cards but I liked Kevin Spacey and admired his work. I'm sorry about his problem.

Spacey is an excellent actor but he did abuse his power though how much wasn't consensual is something we won't know and I feel his career is over for good.
