GOP Candidate?

Since the Nikki Haley response to the State of the Union address contained a sort of oblique denunciation of Donald Trump -- which would mean the elders of the Republican Party have decided to try to get rid of him -- and David Brooks of the NYT, who is a middling, meddling, conforming, unimaginative conservative, suddenly is letting everyone know he finds Ted Cruz utterly horrifying -- in a graphic way that you can't easily forget...

who would you expect the Republican Party to finally nominate? It's hard for me to imagine either of these men will survive, but of course I could be wrong, wrong, wrong. I know many Tea Partiers really love Cruz.

Somehow I'm thinking Marco Rubio. Anyone else have a guess?

I am so afraid of all the GOP candidates. I will vote democratic no
matter whether it is Hilary or Bernie but I am hoping against hope that
it will be Bernie. The media has discounted him all along and given him
very little coverage. Speaking of the highschool kids that I know,
those that turn l8 are planning to vote.

I'm thinking along the same lines.

Whenever I go to England my relatives there are always very interested in what I thought about the Presidential race - more interested than I am. But I'm looking forward to seeing who ends up as The Candidate.

Other countries pay more attention to the rest of the world than we do, I guess.

If the Republicans nominate Trump or Cruz, they will self-destruct. Yes, Rubio is a compromise candidate, but he is a chameleon, changing views to suit his rise and it may be that he, too, will self-destruct as he is shoved onto the national scene with all the analysis and nitpicking that goes with that. Scott Walker, governor of Wisconsin, is a good example of what happens when a big fish in a smaller pond is thrust onto the national scene. He has a boyish appeal. In Wisconsin he destroyed the unions and put 19th century values into play. But he froze on the national stage and withdrew. He couldn't keep up. The only surprise is that he recognized it.

I was wondering why the Kochs abandoned Walker. I wasn't following the news closely.

I'm not too interested in what's in between as long as Bernie takes the prize.

I think he doesn't even have a superpac.

Maybe Nikki Haley as a compromise candidate, after the first ballot fails to get a nominee and the vote pledges are torn up.

It's odd, a few years back she seemed more Republican and troubling. She seems mild now after that speech.

I have so seen politics written about here I was surprised just to see your subject line.
As mother always said (not that I always listened to her but I did/do in this case) "Never discuss religion and/or politics--both are personal"

Yeah, I agree with Teal, & I don't think politics is personal -- but I'm sure your mother was wisely advising how to be politic/polite with the world, especially your own family. Most of my family has learned to turn away such subjects at holidays, no matter what is said by the right-wing members.

It happens that most people on MyBloggers are progressiv. We appear to be more like-minded on issues than not. We left Blogster because it is filled with hate mongers. Also, we are not inclined to get angry with each other when we disagree. When you have this kind of interaction, no subject is off limits. I heard a woman in a store dumping on Obamacare, and I didn't say a word. That's when you don't get involved, We have learned on this blog that we are free to express ourselves wuth each other.
