Isn't that what the chorus in Oliver! sang?
Work has been very stressful for a good while, so it's great to finally feel the money pressure lessen a bit.
I stopped at the grocery store after doing my business banking tasks -- the place I go for this is close to the well-to-do south hills of town, and the grocery store is so much better than my neighborhood one. It's just a Giant Eagle but they have gourmet prepared foods there since they set out to compete with Whole Foods. On Friday nights there's always a crowd.
The two most successful Giant Eagles in Pittsburgh are: #1. South Hills, where I went today; and #2. Monroeville. The difference between #1 and #2 is astronomical.
The prepared foods at the Monroeville store are inedible. They can't even make potato salad. I learned fast not to buy anything made there.
At the South Hills Village store, I bought some meat, for a change. I don't like cooking it much. Canned tuna is usually enough for me. But I went to the store hungry, just like you're not supposed to, so the cooked food drew me.
Got some honey-brushed salmon and a piece of pork osso buco, and potato pancakes. I had a little of each for dinner at home, and the salmon and pork were just amazing. Potato pancakes are always good. Unless -- of course -- you buy them at the Monroeville Giant Eagle store; they found a way to ruin those too. I bought them once, and they tasted like gasoline. I don't know why. Rancid oil?
