More Election Stuff. Beware

Just heard some pieces from Newt's speeches calling Obama "The Food Stamp President."

Sounds a little like Moses, doesn't it? Feeding the people.. or at least it conjures up the Bird Lady from Mary Poppins. It's a name I'd be proud of, in Obama's place.

I was really shocked at seeing the very end of the JonStewart Show, because it made it clear that Stephen Colbert, and Jon Stewart, are doing Everything That Is Possible -- and likely, with their superPAC.

They deliberately violated the regulation that prohibits any coordination between the potential candidate and the head of the SuperPAC. Colbert and Stewart coordinated their election efforts, on the show.

Then they asked their advisor to tell them, on the air, what the possible penalty was. Stewart pretended to shake and asked if there'd be jail time.

No, the advisor said, he'd never heard of anyone going to jail. But there could be fines, in the thousands - or hundreds of thousands - of dollars.

Jon Stewart then asked if he was permitted to use the SuperPAC's money to pay such fines.

The answer was yes.
He and Colbert celebrated.

Recap: All the pigs running for office now can accept publicly donated money in absolutely unlimited amounts, collude with their donors about how to spend it, violate the regulations concerning such money, but experience no personal punishments of any kind after committing those violations, since any penalty can be paid with public money. Thanks, Supreme Court. You've ennobled our society.

Since Newt got a rousing ovation for calling Obama a "food stamp president", he's resorting to name-calling over and over again. He'll pay for it. I'm out of the loop on the Colbert/Stewart super pace thing. Don't care for their humor.

Seems like there has been talk of reforming this clear back to the Clintons, and in their case it was mild compared to ever since.

You can buy judges just as easily as any other politician and with all the shouting of 'get them out' I bet most candidates will be re-elected.

PACs and Corporate "personhood" are proof that American election processes are crooked. They always have been and always will be.

Love Stewart and Colbert. The Citizens United ruling must be reversed. The only bright spot is that Democrats can also have super pacs. I don't think the Right Wing court thought of that. I lost all respect for them after the 2000 election when they over-rode their nonpartisan role and screwed Gore.
