Cleaning Here and There

Another week, and my poison ivy is still developing. I now have scrubbed door handles, light switches, arms of chairs, remotes, my phone, and my work station to make sure the poison of that plant is gone. Still have to wash the handles of the garage doors.

I wore gloves to do the laundry, and have taken a lot of benadryl. I don’t think I should ever go outside again. Antarctica would be a very nice place to live.

There are a lot of strange plants that showed up in our yard after the 2013 flood - washed downstream from the forest behind us. Even before the flood there was one that was spreading - cow parsnip - that has giant leaves that look like something dinosaurs would eat. Reading about it, I think the sap is a skin irritant, and there's ways to eat it if a person has their heart set on sampling every possible thing in the forest in case it's wonderful. Whenever I read about how the pioneers figured out that something like rhubarb leaves is toxic, but the stems are okay, I wonder how many children they sacrificed to testing out which plants were edible.

Have you thought about a dose pack to alleviate the symptoms. I could never stand it so I always resorted to prednisone. It is so worth it. If you don't do that, try to get a prescription for a good, effective cream for the lesions. I feel y our pain!
