My Brain Problem.

I don’t know how prevalent it is to mix up your words when you’re talking and say the wrong ones, but I’ve been doing it for at least 15 or so years. It may happen when I’m thinking out loud, telling myself what I have to do next.

Today I said, “Okay, have to pay the dog insurance.” That wasn’t it, so I said out loud, “I mean, cat insurance.”

I shut my eyes and tried again. “Car insurance.” YES

What I hate is to make a note to myself in the bills file to help when I use it again and then not to understand it. We have a long standing loan just about paid up. I got the statement, deducted the current payment, so I would know what to pay next time/ Just got the new statement, none of the numbes match my note. @#$%$

You almost said it:
"I shut my eyes (slowed my mouth) and tried again.
Unfortunately, I don't think that our mouths move faster with age, our brains move slower.

I should just cross-file the car insurance under both CAT and DOG, so if my brain isn't fully awake I'll still find it.

Yes, there's the find-that-word problem, and others.

I hate it when people know what you mean but make a big deal of rubbing it in that you misspoke, especially when it's not critical - as if it never happens to them.

Once I said "space shuttle" instead of "secondhand store." I was distracted -- was answering a question from one person about where I'd bought something, when another person interrupted. I think my mind reached out vaguely for something with similar beginning consonants, honestly, because I remember saying "sssspace shuttle," knowing it started with s but after that my mouth was on autopilot.
