Blurry

Eyesight is a wonderful thing. Mine changed for the worse all of a sudden and it was driving me crazy how blurry things were. Too much work on computer probably helped accelerate this. I tried changing the temperature of the color on my monitor to “warmer” which helped a little, and I turned down the brightness quite a bit. I guess I could change the resolution of the entire monitor but wasn’t quite ready to, although that would make everything bigger. When trying to read a book in bed, I found my arms weren't long enough, and my regular glasses didn't help, even though they have progressive lenses. It wasn't enough magnification.

I got a cheap pair of drugstore reading glasses, and it’s just miraculous to see small print again, and even my fingernails, so I can paint them. These glasses are not only helping me read books but on the computer too.

Instead of getting work done today I binged on music. Ran across a website called Barihunks, which is a blog about young handsome baritones in opera. The person who made it forgot to make it easy to search for particular ones.

Tomorrow I meet my sisters at the conservatory, which ought to be a good Sunday.

I finally joined the bifocal brigade. They brought me in kicking and screaming, but it was necessary!!

Seeing the doc is probably the best first step.

A goal of mine is to actually have health insurance next year. We'll see.

I have different strengths of cheap reading glasses - one for 'long distance' like using the computer, and cooking; and stronger for close work like sewing and reading in bed. I found sunglasses with a reading glass section in them so when driving now I can read maps and the odometer without having to switch to the readers.

That's funny. For me too, driving and not being able to read mileage was what made the progressives necessary in the car.

A sudden change in vision is a sign that something is wrong. Please see your eye doctor to be sure nothing serious is going on. I see my eye doctor twice a year and he checks me for glaucoma and macular degeneration. So far, so good.

My eyes are improved after some much-needed sleep and a day off computer, and I know dry eyes contributed to this, so I'm not really worried. My much younger sister resorted to reading glasses several years ago. But if something more happens, yes, I will pay the money to see an eye doctor. It's been hard with no insurance and no money.

I am with Martin. I have about 5 pairs of dollar tree glasses for reading. The good ones just aren't as good for reading and I love the funky round frames.

More Dollar Tree glasses, hmm. I am not sure the ones here have them, but can check.

Glad the eyes cleared up--I bought glasses the Dollar Tree and keep them all over the house!
