Is the World Going Crazy?

Yesterday, another St. Petersburg, FL police officer was shot and killed- the third in less than a month. The shooter was a sixteen year old boy! (Three officer were gunned down 28 days ago. Only one survived.)

Today, a school bus driver was attacked and visciously beaten by another teen- because the driver asked him to stay seated while the bus was moving! I Googled "bus driver attacked by student" and was shocked to learn that this is not an isolated incidence. It has happened all too frequently. Bet they don't tell that to job applicants!

There is the unrest in Lybia and the tyrant who his shooting his own people even dropping bombs on them! Gahdafi is so determined to stay in power that he has threatened bloodshed no matter how many die- down to the last life and "his last drop of blood," if necessary (his words). His words are so bizarre that many of his staunchest supporters are defecting. His own deputy ambassador to the UN has called for his ouster.

Then there is the earth quake in New Zealand. The only silver lining here is that this was not caused by Man or his propensity for evil. How very sad! In Haiti they blamed the poor construction for the devastation. These buildings were not poorly made, yet they tumbled down anyway. I don't think the death toll is as high but it is still utterly devastating.

I think I need to go to Youtube and watch some of the really neat videos- like the one of the goats climbing in trees- to remind myself of all of the truly amazing and wondrous things in life.

I too worry about the state of our world. It is almost a powder keg every where. You must be careful how you even look at others. My mother always told me, that I wear my thoughts on my face. Guess I will have to buy a mask and wear it or I might be beaten up by someone. Ha!!

Or wear a burka? I guess their is some advantage to covering one's face.

The most vicious, relentless criminals around here are teenagers and young adults - there has been a disconnect in their upbringing and they have no humanity.

Why do so many young people have such a blatant disregard for life?

I found some singing dogs. So glad their are a lot of both noble and funny things to immerse ourselves in when the news is bad.

Man's inhumanity to man stuns me. Teen age boys do a lot of home invasions here. I think instant gratification is the problem. Parents
don't teach their children that not all of them are entitled to I Pads and
computers and their very own flat screens. If they don't have these things
they get a gun and take them. Violence on tv is another culprit.

I am amazed not just by the number of TV programs with violent content, but also with the increasing number of shows that feature rude, disrespectful and badly behaved people. Everything from "You are not the father" (Jerry Springer, Maury, etc.,) to Bridezilla. I think this sends the message that is kind of behavior is ok.

All this bad news can truly be upsetting. Don't let it get to you. It makes one want to bury his head in the sand--or watch TV sports, even golf! I have more I could say on the subject, but I best keep my big mouth shut!

That is one of the reasons I like coming here. Our friends are usually kind to each other.

Everything happening right now is truly depressing. I'll see if I can't come up with something equally amazing as the goats climbing trees to lift all our spirits.
