The development I live in is called Providence Lakes. It has various shallow lakes throughout. I believe they were created by the developers, dug out to raise the land level around them. Most of Florida is below sea level and the water is close to the surface. When the developers are finished, they put in appropriate water plants and stock the lakes. The frogs and birds find their way to the lakes on their own. This is the lake up the street from me. Where I have non-descript vegetation on the horizon, are houses which I chose not to paint. I came by one evening this spring. The sky was thick with clouds ready to burst and had pink tinges around the edges. There are always birds around the lake- egrets, wood storks and ducks. Wonder why I left them out? Maybe because this is a fast, lazy painting. The goal was, what can I achieve in one afternoon?
I have time- maybe I should add a few birds?
