Another Day Wasted

This is my parent's wedding photo. Years ago, my sister was into scrapbooking and cutting everything out. Glue or something pulled part of the photo off (my dad's sideburn and part of his ear) and she colored it in with a marker Trouble was, this was the only copy we had. I spent the better part of this afternoon trying to repair it. Yes, my dad had big ears! I tried to recreate a little more on both sides, especially on my mom's side to give it a better crop.

By the way- you survivors of the Forty's know guys used to wear their hair this big!

Sidenote: they were married during the Reconstruction period in Nurnberg. My mother's wedding gown was made out of a silk US parachute since fine fabrics were not available. They could barely find simple cottons.

Two posts in one day! Wow!

Now that you mention it, your father does have a rather sinister look to him. Perhaps haughty is a better word.

Little Miss Scrapbook really got a little carried away. Good job filling things in. People's ears grow as they get older, and looking at the size of his ear at that young age makes me say wow! Maybe it's the camera angle.

No, his ears were genuinely huge! He was called Dumbo and Radar ears, and those were some of the kinder things.

Your mother is lovely and so innocent looking. You resemble her a lot.

I always thought my sister Marie looked the most like her, but then, we always believe what we hear as children.

You are your mother's daughter, for sure. Handsome father. They look happy, and why not!

My father was an enigma. He had his good traits, but his bad ones are what he is most remembered for. What a shame.
