I bought grass seed to re-seed my front lawn but had to wait for the rains to appear. Well, the rainy season is finally here. Now, I will have to make a run to Lowe's for a few bags of topsoil as well. There are too many places where the roots from my oak tree have pushed up and made the ground barren under the tree. There is no dirt for the grass to root itself in. More work, but I need to do something about my lawn. It looks ghastly! (Considering this is a deed-restricted community with a HOA that behaves as if I am personally responsible for the decline in property values!) I also need more mulch, and for the first time in years, am thinking about putting a few plants- like impatiens or begonias in the flower bed. The flowers have to tolerate shade well because 90% of the fixed landscape bed is under and around the tree. It is filled with permanent bedding plants like ornamental grasses, crotons and small bushy things that I forget their name right now, but I have not placed flowers out there since 2008.
I must force myself to make time to clean out closets and rid myself of years of accumulated chit. I have wanted to do this for two years but have not made the time for it. In those two years, I got rid of some stuff, but of course, I have accumulated more. It would be so much easier if I had help! I think I have been largely unsuccesful because the job overwhelms me.
roots constantly. We have solved it with a rock garden with plants and
grass and a bricked around tree circle. It gets so hot here that periwinkles and vinca are about the only thing that grows in it. I have
the same problem of almost no help. Ted is so ill and has no strength. It
took him 2 days to get up two plant hangers.
