I have errands to run today so I will post this quickly and come back later- after normal business hours- to visit your posts.
I received the announcement on Monday that I earned first place in the Auxiliary national Publications contest in two out of three categories- both my flotilla and my division newsletters. At the risk of sounding egotistical, I will say that I think the only reason I did not win the district level award is because (1.) I already won that two years in a row, and (2.) It would not have been cool to award me all three awards. Something like that does not encourage other publications officers (editors) or acknowledge their time and efforts. I am reaching that point where I feel guilty entering these contests.
It irks me that although I am clearly one of the best editors in the Auxiliary, the national department that oversees publications tends to shun me because I never jumped through the hoops and earned the Public Affairs qualification/certification- the equivalent of the sheepskin that says I know what I am doing. I thought I might do that this year just to placate them, but I never found the time. Oh well. I will just continue on being the black sheep of publications.
