You truly are being honest and realistic, which is a wonderful, responsible, mature thing to do. I choose to dwell in the world of being optimistic, so I believe you will do just fine, get through the rehabilitation period with a great rate of progress, and will be back with your birds, lunches and movies with Allen, and your blogging buddies before you know it. You may think that you're going to be the patient, but we're the ones who will have to BE patient because it won't be soon enough when you return.

I can only hope and pray that your father's recovery is swift and easy, and that you and your family will somehow find a way to get through all of this. It is such a financial strain that is put on people today, even when they do have coverage, so I know how difficult all of this will be for them. Somehow, though, I believe they will be fine. The love and care that is shared between all of you will get you all through, and you'll do it together. It's a blessing that you have G's help, which makes him a special kind of person, indeed. Keep up your faith because it should be obvious that God is watching over you.

I couldn't be happier for you! I can really sense the joy in you and I can almost imagine how you would sound if you were telling this instead of writing about it. I think what makes it even more special is the way the kids (his and yours) are all getting along with each other and with the two of you. I'm just so happy that you are happy.

I'm helping you count and trying to help you get out of work at noon on Thursday, too. Yep, I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you, too... and, as a little extra help, I've even crossed my eyes!

The shaved head must have been fun, although I don't particularly care for that look on you. But, the green hair was fabulous! Ok, maybe not for every day, but I really like that. (Now if we could just spike it a bit!)

I'm not going to tell you which tattoo you should get...that should be your decision. Whatever you choose IS the right one and the best one.

I hope you get 100 teens this year...wouldn't that be great? You know, in most cases teens only need to be stimulated by someone who cares, someone they don't feel is judging, lecturing, forcing, or trying to be one of them. You can be yourself and still connect, but it has to be done in ways that are of interest to them. You seem to have that gift and the relationship you have with the teens and their interest in the programs (and in the library itself!) are proof that it can be done if it's done right. The tattoo "incentive" is a great idea...not only is it a daring thing (which they love), but it's something they are sharing WITH you and your life...it shows you include them outside of the "library life".

Hey, I have a grinder just like that graphic!

I stopped by the library yesterday morning and it was very, very quiet. I usually encounter a somewhat busy environment on a Saturday morning there, so I was surprised to find it that way. Maybe because it was still so early (barely 10:00), but there couldn't have been more than a half a dozen people there. (Oh, the children's program looks and sounds so good! If I was still a kid...a REAL kid, I mean...I'd sign up for it in a heartbeat!)

Surprise ending? I like stories like that...as long as I can understand them!

I thought it was very good coverage. So often we used to have to hunt with a magnifying glass for any blurb that might be there and, more often than not, there would be negative things within any blurbs. Coverage on tv always emphasized more on the anti-gay protesters and their comments than the festival or parade. I'm proud and happy to see how things have evolved to the way they are today...if we keep working at it, just think how things might be in the future. We don't want to wait for that, though, so we must work on it as if it was going to be today.

Nice one...but, then that's what I said when I saw it the first time. I remember mine costing about that much, too...also an original. The other one I have, smaller and from a pattern, was a bargain at $45. Both are so worn and faded that I ought to invest in re-coloring them instead of getting any new ones. I really do like yours..the coloring is nicer than a lot of tattoos I see.

That's pretty ingenious of you. Who else would have thought of such a thing? It makes me think of how my hands use to sweat when riding a bike sometimes, but I never wanted to wear gloves, of course. These would work on handlebar grips, too. What a smart thinker you are.
Comment on Walking Pole Cozies (Free Pattern) - June 29, 2008 7:37 PM ()
I've been seeing some pole walkers around here on a pretty regular basis. There are also a few who do year 'round cross country skiing (the skis have wheels on them when there's no snow) so they do pole ski-walking. Please excuse my ignorance, but are the poles supposed to come to a certain height in relationship to the body, so that you order/purchase them by the length you want?

Happy birthday to your son. From the pics, he looks like a happy young man.

Wow, those vet's visits are expensive. I hope your Peaches is feeling better soon.

I don't live in a comples of any kind and I do live on a busy enough road, but most people leave other people's things alone, so you and I might think "no problem". That's why I can't understand how I "lost" a snowshovel this past winter, 2 red white and blue pinwheels I had on the porch for holiday decorations last 4th of July, and a potted tomato plant I had growing outside.

You have so many other things to have to consider, but you should try to find a going-to-the-gym schedule/routine that will work for you and try to stick to it...making necessary adjustments as needed. If you need to do some things at home, walking and jogging in place, dancing around the room to some real high energy kind of music, jumping rope, jumping jacks, and things similar to this can all be done right inside the house, while walking, jogging, biking, rollerblading, etc. can be done outdoors. Just schedule something in at the times that are "free" or when you might be at the gym, anyway.

Hey, you got good prices for those bikes. Bikes can be really expensive, even those meant for children, so you did good.
