Life in Misery

Oops - I think I misspelled that....it's supposed to be life in Missouri!! LOL

We are getting pretty well settled in to our new abode. But it is a funny thing. Since we are working towards purchase of a travel trailer, so that I can spend all my time traveling with the slick one, I don't spend as much time 'settling' as I normally would. Aside from a couple things that I have hung on the wall (one is a picture of slick with his mom - she passed away in December :>( and the other is my big Walleye - caught in a lake in Canada many years ago!) the rest is all neatly packed in tubs. I have many things to go through yet, to sort out of the trash and repack into something resembling order.
The kids are busy at their jobs. They are going to be finding another vehicle (right now my car is serving dual purpose - for me and for Katy) and then they will find a place of their own to live. I love having them here, but I will also love having them in their own place. They will most likely be moving 30-60 minutes from where we are. But when we get our trailer, it won't matter anyway. Our stuff will go into storage and we'll be nomads....I'm so excited at that prospect!

The slick one is heading home for a 5 day weekend starting today. YEA! It seems like it has been forever since I've seen him. We were talking about it last night and it was two weeks ago today that he headed north for work. It seems much longer ago than two weeks!

I have spent several days composing what I think is the perfect letter, written to several 'leadership team members' at Budget Truck Rentals. Our move from Florida to Missouri can only be classed as "the move from Hell"...and they need to know of all the problems we ran into. I was going to write it immediately after we got here, but I was too upset, too irritated, and I know that the letter would not have been nice, at all. So 3 months after the fact, the letter is written and winging its way to them. I made no demands, I just explained very clearly what all happened and asked them to follow their conscience and do what they think is the right thing to do. It would be cool if they decided to send me some sort of compensation, but bottom line for me.....they need to take steps to make sure that no one else ever has the same horrible experience that I had. We'll just have to wait and see!

The time of rambling on has come to an end. The coffee cup runneth dry, as does the blood-nicotine level....Plus my sis is waiting for me to call her back again.

Hugs to all ya'll out here in the mybloggers spot!

I was a nomad in my youth. I was younger then. I could walk. Now I have a lot to remember, and travel far less. It's like having kids young and growing up with them versus having kids older and dealing with teens in your later years.
It doesn't matter in which order you do things, only that you do them.
Enjoy!

For a long time, I thought that I would want the life of a nomad, too... and then I discovered that instead of wings, I have roots. This can be a plus and a negative at times...I'm glad to hear that the prospect makes you excited. And even happier to read that a five day reunion weekend awaits you...

I envy that life of a nomad! I think that it would be so fascinating to travel and see so many different things and meet people along the way.

My butt hurts. I can't believe this is taking so long. Sitting is the toughest. When I stand up and walk around it is fine!
